Aug 30, AP: “Bogota, Colombia (AP) – wreckage of a plane has ben sighted near Cali in southwest Colombia, destination of a U.S. Air Force C47 reported missing since Saturday with 14 persons aboard, a U.S. embassy spokesman reported today. He said, however, it has not been determined if the wreckage is that of the C47. The twin-engine plane took off from Howard Air Force Base in the Panama Canal Zone on the 450 mile flight to Cali. Its last report was from a point over the Pacific Ocean, about 90 miles southeast of Taboga Island. The U.S. spokesman said the wreckage sighted today was in a mountain range 11,000 feet up. Helicopters were being sent to the scene. Hoffman Jr., brother-in-law of Robert Hodge, 722 Christianson Ave., was among the 14 servicemen killed in the crash of a C-47 plane en route from Howard Air Force Base in the Panama Canal Zone to Cali, Colombia, Saturday. Capt. Hoffman, of Riverside, Calif., was the navigator on the flight which went down on the slopes of Mt.
