“All eight passengers and four crew bailed out at night, when the crew was unable to find Shanghai-Jiangwan Airfield (then known as Kiangwan) in thick fog. Jan 30, UP: “Shanghai, Jan. 30 – (U.P.) – A C-46 transport of the U.S. 513th Troop Carrier command crashed last night 50 miles from the Kaingyin airfield in Kiangsu province, Army authorities said today. The four crew members and eight passengers parachuted before the crash but they had not been located today, the announcement said.
