“Fifteen Killed and Many Are Injured – Storm Leaves Only Bank Vault Standing…
“Jackson, Miss., April 26. – A storm struck Braxton, about 18 miles from here, at 2:30 this afternoon, killing about 15 persons and wounding twice that number.

“Hattiesburg, Miss., April 26. – The little town of Braxton, about 60 miles north of Hattiesburg, on the Gulf & Ship Island Railroad, was almost wiped out this afternoon by a tornado according to a report received from Mendenhall, the county seat of Simpson county, in which Braxton is situated. This report says eight or ten were killed and 15 or more injured. Every business house was swept away, leaving only the bank vault intact. All the residence section was damaged. The injured were taken to a hospital at D’Lo for treatment. The wires are all down and it is impossible to reach Braxton from here.
“Braxton was a town of about 600 inhabitants, on the Gulf & Ship Island Railroad, 30 miles from Jackson.”
