March 16: “(Arkansas Gazette.)
“The storm or series of storms which occurred in various sections of Arkansas early yesterday morning apparently were connected with a great cyclonic area which late Monday and early yesterday extended over a large part of the South, from Oklahoma and Texas as far east as Alabama, and occasionally developed violent tornadoes, resulting in the death or injury of scores of persons and a property damage of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
“Including the eight reported killed in Arkansas, a total of 24 are known to be dead….
“The storm struck Louisiana from the southwest, and near Baton Rouge four were killed and 20 injured when the tornado dipped to the earth and wrecked everything in its path.
“In Corinth, Miss., a total of 25 persons were injured, five of them so seriously that they may die, when their homes were demolished. It is reported that in Corinth alone 150 houses were destroyed…” (Daily Times, Harrison AR. “Storms Cause Loss of Life.” 3-16-1922, p. 5.)
